Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is interested in achieving and maintaining a desirable measure of prosperity, promoting the health and welfare of its citizens;
 
WHEREAS, a goal of the Cherokee Nation Department of Children, Youth and Family Services is to promote the health and welfare of children, youth and families;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Department of Children, Youth and Family Services is applying for a "Transitional Living Program" grant in the amount of $150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand) to help youth achieve independent living;
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that an application for Transitional Living funding be developed by the Department of Children, Youth and Family Services and submitted to the U.S. Family and Youth Services Bureau, Runaway and Homeless Youth Program; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief, Chad Smith and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said application on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
