Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, a goal of the Cherokee Nation Human Services is to provide prevention, diversion and emergency shelter services to promote the safety and well being of children, youth and families;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Human Services is applying for funding in the amount of $290,021 to supplement the emergency shelter operations and supportive services of the John A. Ketcher Youth Services Center;
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council hereby authorizes an application for funding to the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs, and that Principal Chief, Bill John Baker and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said contract on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
