A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - CLINIC IN THE WOODS
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a property, known as Clinic in the Woods, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The property houses a two story office building and is located immediately to the north of W. W. Hastings Hospital. The property is further described as:
LOTS 2-6 INCLUSIVE, BLOCK 2, BOX ADDITION, a subdivision in the City of Tahlequah, being a part of the NW4 of Section 34, Township 17 North, Range 22 East of the Indian Base and Meridian, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, according to the recorded plat thereof.
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
