A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - CASCADE
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a property, known as Cascade, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.   The property houses an office building and is located north of W. W. Hastings Hospital.  The property is further described as:
 
A tract of land lying in and being a part of the NW4 NW4 NE4 of Section 34, Township 17 North, Range 22 East of the Indian Base and Meridian, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as:
Commencing at the SW corner of said 10 acres, Thence S89°58'02"E, along the South line of said NW4 NW4 NE4 a distance of 170.0 feet to the Point of Beginning;
Thence continuing S89°58'02"E, a distance of 231.16 feet; Thence N0°06'50"E, a distance of 231.46 feet; Thence S88°08'59"W, a distance of 111.3 feet; Thence S0°06'50"W, a distance of 25.0 feet; Thence S0°01'58"W, a distance of 53.0 feet; Thence N89°58'02"W, a distance of 120.0 feet; Thence S0°06'50"W, a distance of 150.0 feet to the Point of Beginning, Cherokee County, Oklahoma.
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of Code of Federal Regulations.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
