A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - 44.93 ACRES
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a property, known as 44.93 Acres, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The property is vacant and is located east and adjacent to W. W. Hastings Hospital property. The property is further described as:
A tract of land lying in and being a part of the SW4 NE4 and a part of the NW4 NE4 of Section 34, Township 17 North, Range 22 East, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point on the West boundary and 100.0 feet South of the Northwest corner of said SW4 NE4; thence S 0°06'02" W, 1225.71 feet to the Southwest corner of said SW4 NE4; thence N 89°48'32" E, 1318.65 feet to the Southeast corner of said SW4 NE4; thence N 0°05'11" E, along the East boundary of said SW4 NE4, 661.28 feet; thence S 89°50'36" W, 3.9 feet; thence N 0°04'19" W, 891.27 feet; thence S 89°56'46" W, 1047.88 feet; thence S 0°06'02" W, 330.0 feet; thence S 89°56'46" W, 264.0 feet to the Point of Beginning. Containing 44.93 acres, more or less;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tract of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
