A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHEROKEE NATION TO RECEIVE BUFFALO THROUGH THE INTERTRIBAL BUFFALO COUNCIL FROM THE BADLANDS
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government-to-government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation engages in numerous agricultural endeavors and is desirous of expanding activities within this field for the betterment of the Cherokee Nation and its Citizens;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation as a working member in the InterTribal Buffalo Council (ITBC) is taking necessary steps for the development and required expertise needed for successful American Bison husbandry;

WHEREAS, the ITBC has extended an offer for Cherokee Nation to receive buffalo from the Badlands;

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Office of the Principal Chief is authorized to accept buffalo from the InterTribal Buffalo Council (ITBC) from the Badlands for the purposes of becoming a facilitator in the development of technical expertise and professional/business relationships in the field of American Bison husbandry.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that G. V. Gulager is authorized to act/vote on behalf of the Cherokee Nation as required to ensure that the Tribe's interests and positions are represented;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Bruce Davis shall be the alternate delegate and may act in the absence of the delegate; and


BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that nothing in this resolution diminishes, divests, alters or otherwise affects any inherent, treaty, statutory, common law or other rights of the Cherokee Nation over any tribal land nor over the aforementioned activities conducted upon such land.
