A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF $267,000 OF HOUSING REHABILITATION FUNDING FOR FY 2015 TO MATCH THE ICDBG APPLICATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is desirous of receipt of ICDBG funding under HUD for the Fiscal Year 2015 for Housing Rehabilitation in order to help meet the backlog of elderly and disabled applicants;

WHEREAS, the funding is dependent upon receipt of sufficient points in the review process;

WHEREAS, critical points are awarded for matching funds;

WHEREAS, HUD has changed the method of calculating points for matching funds.  Points are now awarded based on the percentage non ICDBG resources provided relative to total project costs.  

                     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes the appropriation of $267,000 for Housing Rehabilitation matching funds for the 2015 ICDBG application.
