A RESOLUTION ADOPTING OF THE HUD SECTION 8 STANDARDS FOR HOUSING REHABILITATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has used HUD Section 8 standards consistently for housing rehabilitation;

WHEREAS, HUD Section 8 standards are consistent with safe, healthy living conditions;

WHEREAS, HUD requires formal adoption of the HUD Section 8 standards as a threshold for application for ICDBG;

                     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby formally adopts the HUD Section 8 standards and the standards that will be used for Housing Rehabilitation services provided by the Cherokee Nation.
