A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHEROKEE NATION TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE NATIVE AMERICAN FISH AND WILDLIFE SOCIETY
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation, desires to promote the protection and preservation of its fish and wildlife resources through proper management for the use of its members and future generations; and

WHEREAS, the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society (NAFWS) has been in existence since 1983 and has an established national office to assist the tribes in:
1. Establishing new fish & wildlife programs;
2. Supporting funding for tribal fish & wildlife programs;
3. Educating and training Indian fish & wildlife biologists, managers, technicians & conservation officers.
4. Representing future tribal fish & wildlife needs through the Congressional process; and
5. Promoting tribal management capabilities on a national level through an exchange of information via newsletters, technical bulletins, other pertinent information as well as regional training/workshops; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation fully supports the efforts and activities of the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society as stated above and in the Society's Articles of Incorporation; and

WHEREAS, in order to benefit from the above-listed services, a membership in the NAFWS is required;


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that this Council hereby wishes to become a member of the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society and to participate in the services provided by the organization and its staff; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; that this Resolution of Support be submitted to the NAFWS; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; that the Cherokee Nation supports the efforts of the NAFWS to secur...
