A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE RENOMINATION OF CARRIE PHILPOTT AS A MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION REGISTRATION COMMITTEE
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation Registration Committee was created under Article IV, Section 2(a) of the 1999 Cherokee Nation Constitution;
WHEREAS, the Principal Chief, as representative of the Cherokee Nation, is authorized to select the members of the Registration Committee subject to a majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;
WHEREAS, the term of the Registration Committee members is concurrent with the Principal Chief’s term; and
WHEREAS, Carrie Philpott is duly qualified to serve as a member of the Cherokee Nation Registration Committee and has been selected by the Principal Chief; and therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Carrie Philpott is hereby confirmed as a member of the Cherokee Nation Registration Committee with a concurrent term of that as the Principal Chief.
