A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE RENOMINATION OF CHARLES T. HOSKIN JR., AS SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE CHEROKEE NATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Sec. 12 of the Cherokee Nation Constitution, the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint the Secretary of State subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, Charles T. Hoskin Jr. is duly qualified to serve as Secretary of State of the Cherokee Nation; and therefore

                      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Charles T. Hoskin Jr. is hereby confirmed as the Secretary of State of the Cherokee Nation as authorized by Article VII, Section 12 of the Cherokee Nation Constitution with a term beginning March 2016 to March 2020.
