A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF JOHN SPARKS AS A COMMISSIONER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION GAMING COMMISSION

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission was established and codified under Title 4 of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated;
WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to select the members of the Commission subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;
WHEREAS, Seat five (5) of the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission is vacant;
WHEREAS, John Sparks is duly qualified to fill this vacancy.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that John Sparks is hereby confirmed appointed as a Commissioner of the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission, Seat Five (5), for a term of three (3) years as authorized by Section 21, Chapter 2, Title 4 of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated, from February 2016 to February 2019.
