RESOLUTION NO. #94-89
Supporting an application for a Youth Leadership Program
WHEREAS , The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma is a federally recognized Indian Tribe, organized in accordance with a constitution approved by the commisstioner of Indian Affairs on September 5, 1975 and ratified June 26, 1976; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Education Department has established a need for a youth leadership program for Indian students in the fourteen counties of northeastern Oklahoma, and;
WHEREAS, the Youth Leadership program needs to be expanded to reach youngsters and communities with the tribe's jurisdictional areas, and;
WHEREAS, additional funding is needed to further develop and expand the Youth Leadership Program.
0 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma Tribal
Council does endorse and support a proposal for funding under the Indian Education Act to establish a Youth Leadership Program.
