A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - ROSE COTTAGE 191.9
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a property in central Cherokee County known as Rose Cottage 191.9 acre. The tract is located in the Park Hill area just south of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The property is ranch land lying along a creek below the ridge where the Ross Cemetery is located. The Cherokee County property is further described as follows:
Indian Meridian, Oklahoma
Township 16 North, Range 22 East,
Section 14 S2 SE4 SW4;
Section 23 W2 NE4; N2 S2 NW4; and N2 NW4;
LESS and EXCEPT W2 NE4 NE4 NW4;
LESS and EXCEPT NW4 NE4 NW4;
LESS and EXCEPT E2 NE4 NW4 NW4;
LESS and EXCEPT the following tract:
A tract of land located in the NW4 SW4 NW4, more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of said 10 acre tract;
THENCE, North along the West line thereof a distance of 312 feet;
THENCE, East a distance of 208 feet;
THENCE, South a distance of 312 feet to the South line of said 10 acre tract;
THENCE, West along the South line of said 10 acre tract a distance of 208
feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, according to the US Survey thereof, Cherokee
County, Oklahoma (Ross School);
LESS and EXCEPT the following tract:
A tract of land BEGINNING at a point 15.50 chains (1023 feet) North 51° 30' East of the Quarter Section corner between Section 22 and 23;
THENCE, North 3 chains (198 feet);
THENCE, West 6.67 chains (440.22 feet);
THENCE, South 3 chains (198 feet);
THENCE, East 6.67 chains (440.22 feet) to the POINT OF BEGINNING.

BEGINNING at a point 306 feet North of the Southwest corner of N2 SW4 NW4;
THENCE, North 19 feet; thence East 895 feet;
THENCE, in a Southeasterly direction on a straight line to a point 60 feet East of the Southwest Corner of the NW4 SE4 NW4;
THENCE, West 570 feet;
THENCE, North 160 feet;
THENCE, West 604 feet;
THENCE, North 146 feet;
THENCE, West 208 feet to the point of beginning;
LESS and EXCEPT the following tract:
A piece or parcel of land located in the N2 SW4 NW4 more particularly described as follows, to wit:
BEGINNING at a point 208 feet East of the Southwest corner of said 20 acres;
THENCE, East 33 feet;
THENCE, North 160 feet;
THENCE, West 33 feet;
THENCE, South 160 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
