A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - COOWEESCOOWEE HEALTH CENTER
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a 240 acre property in Ochelata, Washington County, Oklahoma. The property is known as the Cooweescoowee Health Center. The newly constructed Cooweescoowee Health Center lies in the southwest corner of the 240 acre property. The property is further described as follows:
Indian Meridian, Oklahoma
Township 25 North, Range 13 East,
Section 31, SE1/4 NW1/4, and E1/2 SW1/4, and Government Lots 2, 3, and 4.

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
