A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - VINITA HEALTH CENTER

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation acquired a property in Craig County, Oklahoma and has now completed construction of the Vinita Health Center on the 53.07 acre tract.  The property is on the south side of Vinita lying south of Interstate No. 44.  The Craig County property is further described as follows:

 

Indian Meridian, Oklahoma

 

Township 25 North, Range 20 East,

 

Section 27                     A parcel of land situated in the East Half of the Northeast Quarter and the                      North Half of the Southeast Quarter, more particularly described as follows:

                     

                     COMMENCING at a One-half Iron Pin with Cap #1508 being the Northeast Corner                      of said Section 27;

                     THENCE,  South 00° 04’ 13” West along the East line of said Section a distance of                      1255 feet to a Three-eighths Iron Pin with Cap #545 being the POINT OF                      BEGINNING;

 

                     THENCE, North 90° West a distance of 190 feet to a point on the South Right-of                      Way line of the Will Rogers Turnpike, being a Three-eighths Iron Pin with Cap                      #545;

                     THENCE, along said Right-of-Way on a curve to the Right with a Radius of 17,689                      feet, a Chord Bearing of South 58° 54’ 13” West, a Chord length of 1322 feet, for a                      distance of 1322.30 feet to a point on the West line of the SE/4 NE/4 of said Section,                      being a Three-eighths Iron Pin with Cap #545;

                     THENCE, South 00° 05’ 37” West along the West line of said SE/4 NE/4 a distance                      of 712.82 feet to the Northwest Corner of the N/2 NE/4 SE/4 being a Three-eighths                      Iron Pin with Cap #545;

                     THENCE, South 00° 05’ 37” West continuing along the West Line of the N/2 NE/4                      SE/4  distance of 659.03 feet to the Southwest Corner of said N/2 NE/4 SE/4 being a                      Three-eighths Iron Pin with Cap #545;

                     THENCE, North 89° 35’ 35” East along the South line of said N/2 NE/4 SE/4 a                      distance of 1321.79 feet to the Southeast Corner of said N/2 NE/4 SE/4 being a                      Three-eighths Iron Pin with Cap #545;

                     THENCE, North 00° 04’ 13” East along the East line of said Section 27 a distance of                      660.05 feet to the East Quarter Corner of said Section being a Three-eighths Iron                      Pin with Cap #545;

                     THENCE,  North 00° 04’ 13” East continuing along the East line of said Section 27 a                      distance of 1385.20 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.                         Surface Only

 

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations. 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
