A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUBMISSION OF A THREE-YEAR PLAN FOR PL 102-477 ACTIVITIES

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has elected to combine the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs, the Child Care and Development Block Grant program, the Job Placement and Training program, the Adult Education program, and the Self-Governance Vocational program into a single plan under PL 102-477;

WHEREAS, the current PL 102-477 Plan expires September 30, 2016;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation wishes to continue to provide employment and training and related services in a coordinated manner;

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes the development and submission of a new three-year Plan for PL 102-477 activities including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs, the Child Care and Development Block Grant program, the Job Placement and Training program, the Adult Education program, and the Self-Governance Vocational program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Principal Chief, Bill John Baker, and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said Plan on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
