A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE RENOMINATION OF SHANNON D. BUHL AS MARSHAL FOR THE CHEROKEE NATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government-to-government relationship with the United States of America; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 14 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation, the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint the Marshal subject to confirmation by the Council of the Cherokee Nation.

WHEREAS, Shannon D. Buhl’s current term as the Marshal expires November 2016; and,

WHEREAS, Shannon D. Buhl is duly qualified to fill this position; and therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Shannon D. Buhl is hereby confirmed as the Marshal of the Cherokee Nation for a term beginning November 2016 and ending November 2021.
