Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN A NATIONWIDE ELDER NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation Human Services has a long history of receiving funding from the Administration for Community Living to provide meals and caregiver services for Cherokee elders;

 

WHEREAS, the Administration for Community Living requires a current Needs Assessment as a condition for receiving fiscal year 2017-2020 Title VI, Part A and Part C funding;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has partnered with University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Services to provide a past Needs Assessment instrument, evaluation, and reporting with no cost to the Cherokee Nation.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Human Services is authorized to partner with the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine and Health Services to participate in Identifying Our Needs:  A Survey of Elders to provide the survey instrument and to use all collected needs assessment information in aggregate format for the purpose of disseminating and reporting results to Cherokee Nation Human Services.
