A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF DR. JAMES STALLCUP AS A BOARD MEMBER OF CHEROKEE NATION HEALTH PARTNERS

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, it is beneficial for the Cherokee Nation to advance the quality of life of its citizens and all peoples of Oklahoma; and

 

WHEREAS, the health and welfare of all Cherokee citizens and assuring that the highest quality of medical services are made available are significant issues and concerns of the Cherokee Nation; and

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation partnered with Tahlequah City Hospital as Cherokee Health Partners in 2004 to assure there is alternative health services in certain specialty areas and for the Cherokee Nation to work together with Tahlequah City Hospital for the best health services for its citizens; and

 

WHEREAS, the original shareholder of Cherokee Health Partners was Cherokee Nation Comprehensive Care Agency as an agency of the Cherokee Nation but is now Cherokee Nation; and

 

WHEREAS, the former board member holding this seat resigned, leaving a vacancy; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. James Stallcup is duly qualified to fill this vacancy; therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION; the Tribal Council hereby approves Dr. James Stallcup as a board member of the Cherokee Nation Health Partners for a term beginning October 2016 until August 2019.
