A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CONTRACT FOR THE OKLAHOMA TOBACCO SETTLEMENT ENDOWMENT TRUST (TSET) HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAM
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government-to-government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has been awarded a grant from Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) for the purpose of the TSET Healthy Living Program;
WHEREAS, the Council of the Cherokee Nation unanimously approved a limited waiver of sovereign immunity for this grant proposal in Resolution 94-16, upon approval of the contract agreement; and,
WHEREAS, the attached contract reflects the agreement proposed between the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowments Trust and the Cherokee Nation.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council of the Cherokee Nation approves the contract for the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Trust’s grant for the TSET Healthy Living program and authorizes the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation or his designee to execute the contract and waive Sovereign Immunity to the extent required to execute the contract.
