A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUPPORT OF THE SPAVINAW CREEK DAYS

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is very focused on tribal culture and related activities and the Tribal Council of the Cherokee Nation established their Culture Committee in 2016.
WHEREAS, Spavinaw, Oklahoma is located in Mayes County within the 14 Country jurisdiction of the Cherokee Nation and Spavinaw references themselves as one of the earliest and most historic settlements in the heart of the Cherokee Nation.
WHEREAS, Spavinaw’s Multi-Complex is now an event center and market Place and they are having Spavinaw Creek Day and wants the Cherokee Nation to promote and support this cultural event.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Cherokee Nation hereby supports and will promote the Spavianw Creek Day as an event related to Cherokee Nation Culture.
