A RESOLUTION RELATED TO CHEROKEE NATION HEALTH CARE PATIENTS AND PROVIDERS
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, Council recognizes the continual loss of Cherokee Nation Health Care Providers as being extremely detrimental to our citizens and patients and the loss of any quality Health Care Provider is not good.

WHEREAS, Council recognizes the continual turnover of Quality Health Care Providers as being detrimental to Provider continuity causing patients to lose the benefits of a Provider that is knowledgeable about their health history and the adverse effect of the Provider turnovers as being extremely disruptive to the Cherokee Nation Health System itself in an overload to other Providers.

WHEREAS, Council recognizes the adverse effect of Provider turnover in that the locum tenens/temps hired to replace Providers usually costs fifty percent more than the Provider they are replacing.

WHEAREAS, Council recognizes Providers that leave Cherokee Nation Health frequently leave for higher base pay opportunities.

WHEREAS, Council recognizes that the loss of Cherokee or other Native Providers is especially damaging to Cherokee Nation Health and especially to Cherokee citizens and Native patients.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, the Council advises encourages the Cherokee Nation Health Department to find a good management process to alleviate the provider losses, and difficulties of recruiting providers, for better care on behalf of our patients and constituients. understand that quality Provider retention and quality Provider recruitment are major factors in Cherokee Nation health care efforts for Cherokee and Native citizens and quality patient care within the Ch...
