A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE GRANT APPLICATION BY CHEROKEE NATION HUMAN SERVICES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, ADMINISTRATION FOR COMMUNITY LIVING, TITLE VI EVALUATION GRANT

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Title VI program has the ability and experience to apply for and carry out the provisions of the Title VI Evaluation Grant………………;
WHEREAS, the Title VI Evaluation Grant will provide the necessary financial and technical assistance to the Cherokee Nation Title VI Senior Nutrition Program to evaluate the program and help build capacity locally to conduct future program evaluation;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Senior Nutrition program can use the data and resources from this national evaluation to improve the services provided by the Senior Nutrition Program to better the daily lives of Senior Cherokee citizens;
WHEREAS, data collected during the 2016 and 2019 (when conducted) National Resource Center on Native American Aging/University of North Dakota Identifying Our Needs: A Survey of Elders be shared with the agency as outlined in the application requirements to help Cherokee and other Tribal elders;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes the submission of a grant application for the Title VI Evaluation Grant, and that Treasurer, Lacey A. Horn and/or her designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said contract on behalf of the Cherokee Nation……
