Title

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE US-75/EW-0290 ROAD INTERSECTION AS A PRIORITY PROJECT FOR TRIBAL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM SAFETY FUNDING

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

                     

WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code §202(e) provides for a 2% set-aside of Tribal Transportation Program funding for purposes of funding highway safety projects throughout Indian country;

 

WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration published a notice of opprtunity on September 21, 2017, soliciting eligible projects for Tribal Transportation Program Safety Funding;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has conducted extensive research concerning the highway safety needs within its jurisdiction and in doing so has identifed the US-75-EW-0290 Road Intersection as a candidate for safety improvements.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Federal Highway Administration is hereby authorized to pursue all matters necessary to fund the improvement of the US-75-EW-0290 Road Intersection, which is herein deemed a priority for Tribal Transportation Program Safety Funding.
