A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADDITION OF THE DISABILITY EDUCATION INITIATIVE TO PL 102-477 ACTIVITIES
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has received new funding from the Department of Labor for a Disability Education Initiative (DEI);
WHEREAS, the DEI grant is primarily designed to provide training to 477 staff on working with individuals with disabilities;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation wishes to add DEI to our current 477 Plan in order to better coordinate grant activities;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes the addition of the Disability Education Initiative grant to the PL 102-477 Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Principal Chief, Bill John Baker, and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said Plan on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
