A RESOLUTION SETTING LOCATIONS AND TIMES FOR TRIBAL COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation, since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee People; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Constitution Article VI Section 6 allows the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council the ability to adopt its own Rules of Procedure; and
WHEREAS, having certain Tribal Council Committee meetings on the day of the regular monthly Tribal Council meeting would be economically beneficial to the Cherokee Nation government; and
WHEREAS, having certain Tribal Council Committee meetings on the day of the regular monthly Tribal Council meeting would be a better allocation of time and resources of governmental officers, staff and employees.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Community Services Committee, Education and Culture Committee, Health Committee and Resource Committees of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council have their regular monthly meetings on the day the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council regular monthly meeting. The time of each Committee meeting shall be as follows:
10:00a.m. Community Service Committee
11:00a.m. Education and Culture Committee
1:00p.m. Health Committee
3:00p.m. Resource Committee
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that nothing in this resolution is to prohibit the Chairpersons of the committees listed herein from calling special meetings of the committees as circumstances dictate.
