A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING LEASE TO OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation operates numerous health care facilities throughout the Cherokee Nation, including WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah. Cherokee Nation is joining with Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, an entity within the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, to bring health care education to WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah. The Lease will encompass use of a portion of the WW Hastings Hospital floor space and parking space;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to enter into the lease with Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences for the betterment of health care education and health care delivery in Cherokee Nation and the State of Oklahoma.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to recommend approval by the Secretary of the Interior of the Lease of lands held United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure.
