A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHEROKEE NATION MARSHAL SERVICE TO DONATE SURPLUS RIFLES TO SEQUOYAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, IT IS ALWAYS BENEFICIAL FOR THE Cherokee nation to partner and support other emergency response agencies within the Nation’s jurisdiction for the benefit of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service has accrued a surplus of five rifles; and
WHEREAS, the rifles are LWRD PSD 556 caliber short barrel rifles, serial numbers 03-14331, 03-14324, 03-14320, 03-14317, 03-14346 and 03-14328; and
WHEREAS, the donation of these rifles to the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department will substantially support and enhance the effectiveness of the cross deputation relationship between the Cherokee Nation and that agency for the benefit of our Cherokee Communities, therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes the donation of the above described surplus and authorizes the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service to donate the above items to the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department in Sequoyah County.
