WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation acquired property in Delaware County, Oklahoma. The property has a rich history as a trading post with a grain mill being operated in the 1800s. The property known as Beck’s Mill is located along Flint Creek in southern Delaware County. The property is north of Highway 412, none of Beck’s Mill Trading Post or Mill buildings are still standing. The Delaware County property is further described as follows:
