A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING COMPLIANCE WITH 24 CFR CH. IX (01/01/2003 EDITION) 1003.604 CITIZEN PARTICIPATION

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is desirous of participation in the Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) program through submission of an application for a project benefiting the Elder Housing Rehabilitation project for Fiscal Year 2019;
WHEREAS, HUD has set out requirements for citizen participation as a prerequisite to application;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is continuously seeking and responding to citizen questions and comments through ongoing processes of the Tribe in order to better serve its citizenry;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has met the specific requirements of HUD as set out through public hearings, response to comments, and requests made by respondents;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby certifies that it has met the requirement of HUD set out in 24 CFR Ch. IX (04/01/2003 Edition) 1003.604 Citizen Participation for the ICDBG grant application to be submitted for Fiscal Year 2019.
