A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE VOLUNTEER WORK OF JOSE ALCALA ON THE REMEMBER THE REMOVAL BIKE RIDE

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, it is always important to recognize the achievements and services provided by non-Cherokees that contribute to the education and growth of Cherokee people; and

 

WHEREAS, Jose Alcala, is a bicycle mechanic and he diligently volunteers each year during the Remember the Removal Bike ride, and.

 

 WHEREAS, the participants of the Remember the Removal Bike ride are grateful for his service, ensuring their safety during the more than 1,000-mile bike ride, and

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION; the Tribal Council hereby recognizes the outstanding work of Jose Alcala, and thanks him for his efforts to ensure the safety of Cherokee youth during the Remember the Removal Bike Ride.
