Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHEROKEE NATION HEALTH SERVICES, TO APPLY FOR SMALL AMBULATORY PROGRAM GRANT FUNDING ON BEHALF OF CHEROKEE NATION TO CONSTRUCT AMBULATORY FACILITIES AT THE WILMA P. MANKILLER HEALTH CENTER SITE.

Body

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government-to-government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation continuously strives to ensure the improved health and quality of life of Cherokee citizens within its borders;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation supports the proposed Small Ambulatory Program grant project of constructing an Ambulatory Facility at the Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center site upon the demolition of the original portion;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation supports Cherokee Nation Health Services’ application budget request of $2,000,000 from the Indian Health Services Small Ambulatory Program;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation acknowledges a tribal financial contribution, in the amount of $2,000,000, and certifies that funds are available and designated for the proposed project;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation authorizes the entering in of a P.L. 93-638, Self-Determination and Education Act, construction contract for the administration, planning, design and/or construction of the Small Ambulatory Program project; 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council hereby authorizes an application for funding to the Indian Health Services Small Ambulatory Program grant for these purposes; and that Principal Chief, Bill John Baker, and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said application on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
