A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - WILL ROGERS HEALTH CENTER

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired property in South Nowata Cherokee Nation I.T., Nowata County, Oklahoma.   The property, known as the Will Rogers Health Center, serves as a health facility, food distribution center and community gathering place. The property is further described as follows:

 

Township 25 North, Range 16 East, Indian Base & Meridian, Oklahoma, Nowata County, South Nowata Addition to the City of Nowata, parts of Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, and 24,

 

Section 6                     Commencing at the NE corner of the NE4;

                                                               Thence, South 89°54’45” West a distance of 1348.82 feet;

Thence, South 00°00’08” West a distance of 30.00 feet to the NE corner of Block 1, said Point being the POINT OF BEGINNING;

                                                               BEGINNING at the NE corner of said Block 1;

Thence, South 00°00’08” West along the East line of said Block 1 a distance of 30.00 feet;

                                                               Thence, South 89°54’45" West a distance of 260.00 feet;

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations. 

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
