A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF ROBERTA GIBSON AS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE SEQUOYAH HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board of Education was established by Cherokee Nation resolution No. 72-86;

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation is authorized to appoint office #5 seat on the board, subject to the majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, the term of the #5 seat on the board expired on 9/30/2018 and Roberta has continued to serve;

WHEREAS, Roberta Gibson is duly qualified to fill office seat #5 on the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Roberta Gibson is hereby confirmed as a member of the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board and will serve a term from November 2019 and expiring November 31, 2024.
