A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A SPECIAL GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE ADMINISTRATION ON AGING TITLE VI GRANT, PART A AND PART C

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Family Assistance Department routinely receives the Administration on Aging Title VI Grant for Nutrition Services to Indian Elders (Part A) and the Title VI Caregivers Grant (Part C);
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Family Assistance Department Senior Nutrition Program seeks to apply for a three year grant for dates April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2023 for the continuance of both Title VI Senior Nutrition services to the 14 Senior Nutrition Programs located within the Cherokee Nation jurisdiction (Part A), and Title VI Caregiver Support Program (Part C) under the Administration on Aging Title VI grant to Indian Elders.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief or his designee hereby authorizes the submission of the Grant Proposal to the Administration on Aging for Title VI Parts A and C for Nutrition Services and Family Caregiver services to Indian Elders for Fiscal Years beginning April 1, 2020 and extending through March 31, 2023
