A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - DOTSON ROBERTS AND THE PAVILION IN BLOCK 74, TAHLEQUAH O. T.
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation acquired two properties in Cherokee County, Oklahoma. The properties are known as Dotson Roberts and the Pavilion, both located in Block 74 of Tahlequah, Original Territory. The Cherokee County property is further described as follows:
Indian Meridian, Oklahoma, Cherokee County
Township 17 North, Range 22 East,
Section 33, A part of Block 74 in City of Tahlequah described as;
Lot 1;
North 32.25 feet of Lot 2;
Lot 3;
Lot 4.
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Charles Hoskin, Jr., and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
