A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TRIBAL OFFICIALS TO APPROVE INDIAN PREFERENCE APPLICATIONS
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Form 4432 is the Application for verification of Indian preference for employment in the BIA and the Indian Health Service;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is presently required to send Indian Preference Applications to the BIA for signature;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation would prefer to have said Applications signed by designated Tribal officials without further action on behalf of the BIA.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Tribal officials Lela J. Ummerteskee, Tribal Registrar and Justin Godwin, Office Manager be designated to sign Indian Preference Applications without further action by the BIA.
