Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;  
 
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a tract of land located in Adair County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:
      
The SE4 SE4 and SW NE SE and SE NW SE and the N2 SW SE and SE SW SE and E2 W2 NW SE, LESS AND EXCEPT the SE SW NW SE AND LESS AND EXCEPT the North 208.75 feet of the West 208.75 feet of the NE SW NW SE and LESS AND EXCEPT the E2 NW NW SE, all being in Section 25, Township 15 North, Range 24 East, LESS AND EXCEPT: Commencing at the NW/corner of the SE NW SE of Section 25, Township 15 North, Range 24 East, Adair County, Oklahoma, thence S 89°52'00" E on North line of SE NW SE a distance of 99.46 feet to the point of beginning; thence S 89°52'00" E, a distance of 660.00 feet; thence S 00°01'00" E, a distance of 660.00 feet; thence N 89°52'00" W, a distance of 660.00 feet; thence N00°01'00" W, a distance of 660.00 feet to the point of beginning.
  
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation desires to have said property placed United States of America in Trust for the Cherokee Nation.   The property is vacant land adjoining Cherokee Nation Trust lands on the West boundaries of the Morgan Drain tract.   This tract of land is home to an endangered species of bats.
 
      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, Chadwick Smith, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of Interior to place said tract of land in Trust in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affair policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
