A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEASING OF TRIBAL TRUST LAND TO HOUSING APPLICANT

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, Billy Soap, certified member of the Cherokee Nation, has applied to the Cherokee Nation requesting a housing lease for his home site located on Cherokee tribal trust lands;
 
WHEREAS, said participant has applied with the Cherokee Nation Housing Services - Housing Rehab Programs to get repairs to his home;
 
WHEREAS, that the Cherokee Nation Real Estate Services, prepare the necessary documents for a housing lease in favor of the applicant with waiver of bond and appraisal. This document is required as part of the application process through the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The property is described as follows:
 
Beginning at the NE corner of Section 4 Township 12 North Range 26 East, thence South 940 feet; thence West 600 feet to the true Point of beginning, thence South 208 feet; thence West 208 feet; thence North 208 feet; thence East 208 feet to point of beginning containing 1 acre more or less, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council, in order to improve efficiency, grants the Cherokee Nation Real Estate Services Department authority to lease Cherokee Tribal Land where the housing site is located, with waiver of bond and appraisal, and the proper documents be prepared for the applicant, Billy Soap, and that Chad Smith, Principal Chief (or his designee) be authorized to negotiate and execute all official matters in this regard.
