A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHEROKEE NATION PROGRAMS TO DONATE EQUIPMENT TO U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (U.S.G.S.)

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has established the Environmental Protection Commission and the Environmental Programs Group to protect public health, welfare, and the environment;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has previously partnered with the U.S. Geological Survey;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs seeks to donate Stream Gauging Equipment to U.S.G.S. for the purposes of monitoring streams within Cherokee Nation Jurisdiction.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes Cherokee Nation Environmental Programs to donate Stream Gauging Equipment to U.S.G.S. for the purposes of monitoring streams within Cherokee Nation Jurisdiction.
