A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF ANDRE' DIANE HAMMONS AS ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 13 of the 1999 Cherokee Nation Constitution the Principal Chief is authorized to appoint the Attorney General and confirmed by the Tribal Council of the Cherokee Nation;
WHEREAS, the terms of office for the Attorney General shall be for five years from July 2011 and ending June 2016;
WHEREAS, Andre' Diane Hammons is duly qualified to fill this position.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Andre' Diane Hammons is hereby confirmed as Attorney General of the Cherokee Nation , to fulfill the duties of Attorney General as specified in Article VII Section 13 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation for a term beginning July 2011 and ending June 2016.
