A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - HOMELAND

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation owns property in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, more particularly described as follows:

Lots 1,2, 3, 4 and 5 and all that certain alley lying adjacent to and abutting upon the above described Lots 2,3, 4 and 5, all in Block 90, of the City of Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma, according to the official recorded plat thereof.

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to have said property placed United States of America in Trust for the Cherokee Nation.  The property is occupied by Cherokee Nation Industries, LLC, a wholly owned company of Cherokee Nation.  

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation and/or his/her authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tract of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
