AN ACT ESTABLISHING A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO AID CHEROKEE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THAT ARE CONCURRENTLY ENROLLED

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
Section 1. Title and Codification
This Legislative Act shall be titled as the “Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship Act of 2011” and codified under Title____of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated (“CNCA”).
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to create a scholarship program to enable benefit Cherokee high school students residing in the Cherokee Nation Scholarship Program service area (see attached map)students in the State of Oklahoma who are currently enrolled in college courses through the Oklahoma Regents of Higher Education.an accredited public or private institution of higher learning

Concurrent Enrollment: means students who are either a high school Junior or Senior who are taking college courses through an accredited public or private institution.

Section 5. Substantive Provisions
Cherokee Nation high school students who enroll in college courses through the concurrent enrollment program established by the Oklahoma Regents of Higher Education may receive financial assistance from the Cherokee Nation in an amount not to exceed seventy dollars ($70.00) per credit hour.The Cherokee Nation College Resource Center shall establish a scholarship program to benefit Cherokee high school students residing in the Cherokee Nation Scholarship Program service area (see attached map) who are currently enrolled in college courses through an accredited public or private institution of higher learning. The establishment of said program and scholarship awards shall be contingent upon the availability of funding.
