After being born to Jack and Zula Belle Dobbins in 1953, I arrived in Tahlequah in 1956. Having loving parents and a caring community contributed to many great experiences. The fondest high school memories included having great, unselfish teammates in football and basketball. Team accomplishments enabled me to be recongnized by being inducted into the Tahlequah High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. Most humbling, however, was being elected Senior and Junior Class President by my classmates while graduating in 1971.
Attendance at the University of Tulsa from 1971 - 1975 on a basketball scholarship was next. After graduating with a degree in Zoology in 1975, I continuted my education at the University of Oklahoma where I obtained a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1981, I returned to Tahlequah and practiced family dentistry for 15 years and 10 years in Locust Grove.
In 2006, I decided to continue a teaching career at OU and Tulsa Community College. I also continuted to assist and mentor Cherokee students interested in a healthcare profession beginning in 1983.
My wife Terrye and I were married in 1976 and have been greatly blessed. We have a son, Luke and his wife Kaycee, daughter Brynlee and her husband Chad. Five grandsons continue to daily enrich our lives.
Our lives reflect a personal faith that is a constant. We are truly honored to serve our Lord at First Baptist Church in Tahlequah.
I am honored to serve my fellow Cherokees as thier councilor.
