Along with a sister and two brothers Keith Austin was raised in Talala Ok, his father was a truck driver and his mother was a seamstress. He attended Oologah schools until his junior year, and graduated from Catoosa in 1980. He continued his education at Tulsa and Claremore Junior Colleges.

Keith started his career working for a family owned furniture store as a window coverings installer. Ultimately he was named Operations Manager overseeing all aspects of customer service.

In 1990 he went to work as a durable medical equipment representative helping elders and those with other physical challenges find solutions to their mobility challenges. After four years he was promoted to Regional Manager, overseeing a team of over twenty representatives in twenty different cities.

In 1999 Keith founded and operated All Points Delivery (APD) in Tulsa for twenty years. With a staff of over twenty, APD provided time critical delivery services and logistic support for hundreds of clients.

In 1988 he married Pam, also a Cherokee citizen, they have made their home in the Rural Claremore. They have two children, Matt and his wife Kaitlin, and Alyssa and her husband Max and four grandchildren so far.

A direct descendant of Judge John Martin, the first Supreme Court Justice of the Cherokee Nation, Keith was elected to the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. He serves as Lay Leader at Verdigris United Methodist Church and on the Community Advisory Board for RSU/TV. Prior to serving on the Tribal Council he served on the Cherokee Phoenix Editorial Board.
