Pryor resident Danny Callison is a 1975 graduate of Pryor High School. He attended Claremore Junior College and Northeastern State University. Callison earned his Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1980 from NSU.
Danny taught chemistry, environmental science, biology and coached football for Pryor High School. He then taught and coached for a year at Claremore Sequoyah High School. He then moved to Locust Grove Public Schools, where he taught chemistry and drivers' education and coached both football and baseball and would go on to be head coach of both those sports. In 2005, he moved to back to Pryor High School, where he would continue to teach chemistry and Environmental Science, as well as being the drivers' education coordinator and coaching both football and baseball.
Throughout his teaching career, Danny was named Pryor High School Teacher of the Year, Locust Grove School District Teacher of the Year, 3A-3 District Football Coach of the Year, Region 3 Baseball and Football Coach of the Year, Greater Tulsa Shrine Bowl Football Coach of the Year, and Rogers County Lion’s Club Coach of the Year. Danny has been a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association, Oklahoma Football Coaches Association, and Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association.
Danny retired from the teaching profession at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
Callison is married to wife, Sherry, and the couple resides in Pryor. They have two grown children: son, Eric Callison and wife, Whitney, of Tahlequah; and daughter, Abby Woodward and husband, Randy, of Pryor.
Danny is a Deacon at Westside Free Will Baptist Church in Pryor. He will use his retirement to serve the nation and spend time with his grandchildren.
