ACT RELATING TO THE NAMING OF TSIDALENVHI GADUHV

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
Section 1. Title and Codification
This act shall be known as “The TSIDALENVHI GADUHV (ᏥᏓᎴᏅᎯ A ᎦᏚᎲᎢ) Naming Act of 2021.”
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to provide a name designation for the ONEFIRE Transitional Living Facility located at 921 West Blackjack Street in Stilwell, Oklahoma. The building should be known in the Cherokee language as the “A Place For Us All To Begin Again.” This building should henceforth be known legally and informally as “TSIDALENVHI GADUHV ( ᏥᏓᎴᏅᎯ A ᎦᏚᎲᎢ).”

Section 5. Substantive Provisions
1. The Buidling and Facility Naming Act of 2011, Title 61 C.N.C.A. § 1, et seq., requires that the names of Cheorkee Naiton buildings may only be designated or redesignated by Act of the Council of Cherokee Nation.
2. This building should signify a safe and transitional space for victims of domestic violence as part of Cherokee Nation’s One Fire program.
3. This building should also include the “JR Claphan Memorial Recreation Room.” This room, named in honor of the memory of long-time ONEFIRE advocate for the Adair County area, should provide a safe space indoors where children can play and take part in recreational activities that promote healthy living and mental health.
Section 6. Provisions as cumulative
The provisions of this act shall be cumulative to existing law.
Section 7. Severability
The provisions of this act are severable and if any part of provision hereof shall be held void the decision of the court so holding shall not affect or impair any of the remaining parts or provisions of this act.
Section 8. Effective Date
The provisions of this act shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage and approval.
Section 9. Self-Help Contributions
To the extent that this Act involves programs or services to citizens of the Nation or others, self-help contributions shall be required, unless specifically prohibited by the funding agency, or a waiver is granted due to physical or mental incapacity of the participant to contribute.
