A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF LAND IN TRUST - CRAIG COUNTY 183.43 ACRES
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation has acquired a property in southwestern Craig County known as Skelly Ranch 183.43 acre. The tract is located five miles west of White Oak and was a part of the roughly 10,000 acre Skelly Ranch. The property is ranch land with ceremonal grounds in the northwest corner. The Craig County property is further described as follows:

Section 35 A parcel of land lying in the E1/2 NE1/4 NE1/4 of Section 35, Township 25 North, Range 18 East of the Indian Base and Meridian, Craig County, State of Oklahoma according to the U. S. Government Survey thereof, more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the SE corner of said E1/2 NE1/4 NE1/4;
THENCE, South 89° 50’ 36” West for a distance of 495.97 feet along the South line thereof to the center line of an existing county road;
THENCE, North 04° 54’ 15” West for a distance of 30.41 feet along the center line of an existing county road;
THENCE North 12° 07’ 03” East for a distance of 60.68 feet continuing along said center line;
THENCE, North 28° 34’ 02” East for a distance of 55.74 feet continuing along said center line;
THENCE, North 43° 22’ 27” East for a distance of 55.82 feet continuing along said center line;
THENCE, North 57° 37’ 15” East for a distance of 58.76 feet continuing along said center line;

WHEREAS, Cherokee Nation desires to transfer fee title to United States of America in Trust for Cherokee Nation under the provisions of Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation, Bill John Baker, and/or his authorized designee(s) be authorized to request the Secretary of the Interior to place said tracts of land in Trust for Cherokee Nation in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs policy and procedure for the acquisition of land.
