A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE TRIBAL COUNCIL REAPPOINTMENT OF SHERYL ROUNTREE AS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION SEQUOYAH HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board of Education (the “Board”) was established by Cherokee Nation Resolution No. 72-86 and amended by CN Resolution 10-17 and codified under legislative act LA-45-21(“the Code”) and amended by LA-23-24; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to the previous rules of the Board and the newly adopted Code, the Tribal Council is authorized to appoint two (2) members of the Board; and

 

WHEREAS, Sheryl Rountree, is duly qualified to fill Seat two (2) on the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board of Education; and

 

THEREFORE, Sheryl Rountree is appointed to fill Seat two (2) on the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board of Education for a term of three (3) years pursuant to the Code.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Sheryl Rountree is hereby appointed and confirmed as a Board Member of the Cherokee Nation Sequoyah High School Board for the term of three (3) years starting March 10, 2025 through March 10, 2028.
